Why I’m starting this experiment.
This is an experiment; I have set myself a challenge to go from a non-writer to a paid writer. A writer that can earn at least £1,000 a month consistently. Many people wonder if they could earn money from writing but never test it seriously. I have always been intrigued by writers that get paid to share their thoughts and opinions with others. This is a journey to see if I can do that and earn along the way. So let the challenge begin.
Where I’m beginning.
I genuinely don’t know if I can become a competent writer — and that’s what makes this experiment interesting. I’m a middle-aged male, with a full-time job. I can read, I can write, to a reasonable level. I can throw an e-mail together but have never attempted to publish anything. Sharing my thoughts and ideas with the world might be fun. The idea of being able to write at anytime and anywhere also has a lot of appeal.
The goal to £1000 a month.
£1,000 a month is a clear, measurable benchmark that turns a vague ambition into a real target. If I can earn £1,000 a month from my writing, I’m then a professional writer. I’m writing at professional level. My thoughts, my experience and my opinions have value. It is a significant amount.
The Plan
I have started the blogsite “zero2writer.com” to document my journey.
My plan is to:
– study how professional articles are structured
– publish regular writing experiments
– test freelance marketplaces
– explore short fiction and Kindle publishing
I am sure I will discover many other methods and markets on the way.
Join me on the journey
My first task is to break down how a professional article is built and attempt to write one from scratch. I’m not expecting it to be a quick journey, but I’m in it for the long haul. I look forward to the successes as well as the rejections. Each of them being an experience to build upon. Why not follow with me on my journey at “zero2writer.com” and we can share our highs and lows together. Each experience is a learning point for all.
